Julian Bourne is an inventor of mobile social networking (Patent No.: US 7,310,676 and continuation 11/198,126) and other awarding winning GPS software applications. In 2004 he founded Proxpro Inc., a company spearheading a new wave of situation aware mobile applications, that provides an instant mental representation of events, people, environmental and location specific objects, so that people can make the right decisions.
A seasoned veteran of high tech industries, Julian’s prior role was as Global President of Morgan Crucible’s Specialty Division, where he led a range of growth businesses, including start ups in the semi-conductor, aero-propulsion and fuel cell industries. While traveling frequently for business, he recognized the need for executives to be as prepared as possible for chance meetings, and that many would benefit from connecting with colleagues and friends in impromptu meetings when both happened to be traveling in the same city, airport, trade show or between offices of a large company. In June 2006, Proxpro launched its first commercial search product “Research people”, a mobile tool that delivers consolidated employment histories, bios and photos for 30 million of the world’s movers and shakers.
In April 2006, Proxpro won the social networking category in NAVTEQ’s 2006 Global Location Based Services Challenge for its next two products, “Locate Friends” and “Locate New Friends” which are currently in beta. In August 2006, Julian received the 40-under-40 award in Boston Business Journal’s list honoring 40 outstanding Boston professionals under the age of forty.
