Prompt GPS Calendar: Linking Calendar Location Field to BlackBerry Contacts' Address

Consequently we have made it easy to use addresses in your BlackBerry contacts to populate your GPS calendar, enabling you to edit start and destination locations effortlessly,  Here are step-by-step directions on how to use this feature:

1) Click the "Subject line" in Prompt Cal

2) Check departure (start) and destination locations.  If you would like to edit either location highlight and click edit:

3) There are four ways to enter an address:

    - enter the name in "Find" field (first or last or both names) then click the trackball. Options will appear below.  Select best option and the corresponding address will populate the destination field.

    - Enter the new address in "Find" field.  Select menu | select address.

    - Choose, highlight and click an address from preferences addresses below the "Find" field.

    - Or choose a cached address from previous addresses used.

 

4) The appropriate address will populate the destination location field in edit location:

 

5) Press "Back key" (to the right of the track wheel) and select save.  Proxpro Prompt will geo-locate the new address work out trip planning information and reset the time to leave alert:

Prompt: Trouble Shooting

If you are experiencing difficulties using Prompt you may find the following points helpful fixes:

1) I completed setup and have items in my BlackBerry native calendar but they are not appearing in Prompt's GPS Calendar:

- During set up home and work addresses must be added accurately.  Please check in preferences that these addresses are visible.  Save corrected addresses in preferences.  You may need to have your account reset, if so please contact support "at sign" proxpro.com

- Is your mobile carrier T-Mobile.  Proxpro does not support T-Mobile

2) My home and work addresses are populated in preferences correctly.  I see an event in my BlackBerry calendar but there is not trip planning or weather information.

- Check the address inputed into BlackBerry native calendar.  Make sure the address is accurate and spelled correctly.  If the street address is not unique for that city (ie there might be two Chestnut St.) please enter zip code.

3) Repeat events are not appearing in Prompt:

- We are aware of this bug and shall have a fix soon

4) Prompt "when to leave" screen keeps popping up when I'm driving:

- Some people like to see that they are going to be punctual on route. If you don't want to consult the when to leave screen on route select menu | exit and the when to leave screen will not reappear.

5) The "when to leave" screen has not been pushed to foreground telling me to hit the road:

- Prompt is a background app and a very light user of battery and computing power.  It only uses GPS at the time of departure, to update location, and even then it uses 1/30th of the power of GPS navigation or Google Maps.  When you consult the GPS calendar, to keep prompt operational press either the back button or the red "finish call" button to keep Prompt is the background.  If, from the calendar view, you select menu| exit, Prompt will not push alerts to you.

6) When I'm on the road Prompt's map does not update.

- If there are leaves on trees or high buildings in your immediate proximity, Prompt may not be able to get a location fix.  When the sky is clear select menu | locate me | Use GPS and the map will update and  continue to update to your destination.

7) I'd like to purchase Prompt for 1 year's unlimited usage but I don't want to use PayPal.  What shall I do?

Prompt for BlackBerry: The GPS Calendar and Traffic Notifier - The Basics

1. Entering an appointment.

Once set up is complete Prompt is very simple to use. 

Most people keep a record of a meeting's location.  All that is required is that the location of the appointment is entered into the "Location" field in your BlackBerry native calendar:

Then save the appointment entry in the normal way and voila, let Prompt do the rest.  There is literally nothing else to do.

2. "Pulling" the "When to leave screen".

If you do not want to wait for the automated time to leave, which would happen 30 minutes prior to your departure deadline, you can "pull" the when to leave screen and see all the important details of your next trip.  Just click the time for the event:

3. The "when to leave" screen explained

Our aim, when we designed the Prompt "when to leave" screen was to impart as much vital information as possible on a single screen so that you can glance and go!

Proxpro Prompt “When to Leave” screen displays a projected route from your current location to the next event in your calendar.  The green and red countdown bar depicts the travel time (red), including predicted traffic delay, and the “time cushion” (green).  The “time cushion” is the time duration between current time and the latest departure time (departure deadline).  

The time on the left of the countdown bar is the current time; the time on the right is the time of the next appointment.  The location of the next appointment is also displayed as a red box; the start location is shown as a green box.  Logic or GPS is used to determine start location.  If you wish to change the start location select menu | locate me.  The “When to Leave” screen automatically pops up at a pre-determined early warning time before last departure time.  You may change the early warning time by editing your preferences.   To snooze the screen select menu | snooze.  This will re-activate the screen 5 minutes before the departure deadline.  As you progress towards your destination the application may renew the location and update the map showing progress to the destination reducing the travel time (red) and maintaining the green portion of the bar.  If the green portion disappears you are likely to be late for your meeting.

 

The Prompt “When to Leave” screen also displays tabs along the bottom of the screen for a summary of the route and detail of incidents you may encounter on your route.

 

If you are subscribed to a partner GPS Navigation application (see website for details) you may select the “Navigator” soft key to conveniently launch a GPS navigation service.  The best thing is Prompt knows where you are going to so you don't have to enter the destination.

 

 

Proxpro Prompt: Trip Planning Using Waypoints Saves Time

A waypoint is a point between major points on a route.

One of the most useful aspects of Proxpro Prompt is the ability to connect the dots between waypoints.  For instance you may have a meeting with a customer, but have agreed to pick up a colleague from his/her home on route.  Assuming you have addresses, there are still multiple questions to answer to complete this maneuver on time.  Most people would plonk themselves in front of their PC for 15 minutes, inputting addresses, printing routes and analyzing travel times.

But there is a simpler way:

Prompt: How to Customize BlackBerry Audible Alerts

What if while you are finishing breakfast there is a huge crash on the route to your  next important meeting, the traffic is backed up for miles and delays are unavoidable.  We know Prompt will "push" its time to leave, alert you in plenty of time, but you might not SEE the warning if your phone is in your pocket. 

Take the following steps and you will hear an audible notification 30 minutes before your departure deadline.  You will see the precise location of the incident and will be given directions to avoid the hold up!  With Prompt you arrive on time every time.

Click Menu and select preferences:



Select the radial button for audible alerts



Press back button and save preferences:



Then choose the BlackBerry profiles icon on the Home Screen



Scroll down to "Advanced"



Click advanced and the Blackberry profile currently in use is highlighted "Active.  Highlight this active profile. press menu and edit



Here you will see all the functions of your BlackBerry.  You can change all the LED, notifications and alarms for all your applications.  Select Prompt | menu | edit



The cursor will move down the right hand side column.  You have options in holster / out of holster.



Here are my settings which works well for Prompt:
I love the sonar notification, it gives the impression Prompt has surveyed my route and is coming back with trustworthy information.

Number of vibrations        2

In holster                same as above but with vibrations

Then edit the profile for vibrate.  You don't want Prompt sonar going off in your next meeting.  But vibrate and the LED would be helpful.
