Bill Gates, quoted in the Wall Street Journal (June 8, 2007), urged Harvard Graduates to take on an issue and "become a specialist on it" even if they devote just a few hours every week.
A four point plan for attacking a complex problem:
1. Determine a goal
2. Find the "highest leverage approach".
3. Discover the ideal technology for that approach
4. ...in the meantime, make the smartest application of the technology you have.
Bill Gates' philanthropic work is an extraordinary mix of intense compassion, an acute analytical mind and bold execution...and he's still a relative young man. Over the next 30 years he will have huge influence on policy and global inequality.
